Johnny Depp is taking a seemingly much needed vacation. The actor, who is currently involved in a nasty legal battle with his estranged wife Amber Heard, has jetted off to his private island in the Bahamas, a source tells Us Weekly.
The R&R comes following Depp’s final European tour dates with his band, the Hollywood Vampires. As previously reported, Depp has been performing with the group around Europe, most recently in Romania.
The destination marks the same spot where Depp and Heard tied the knot in 2015. As previously reported, the two met on the set of The Rum Diaries in 2009 and exchanged vows during two ceremonies in February 2015 — once at their home in West Hollywood and again on Depp’s private island, which he reportedly purchased in 2004 for $3.6 million.

His getaway comes on the heels of Depp’s lawyer Laura Wasser’s claims that Heard is strategically avoiding a deposition under oath leading up to their scheduled June 17 court date. In court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Wasser accuses Heard of evading the deposition by saying that both she and her best friend Raquel Pennington are unavailable to make any statements on the record, despite a previously agreed-upon June 10 meeting.
“Amber is trying to put Johnny on trial through the media,” a source close to the Pirates of the Caribbean actor says in the new issue of Us Weekly, while a source close to Heard maintains that “this isn’t about money.” “All Amber did was try to get out of a marriage because she was suffering from abuse,” the insider says.
Depp has yet to personally address Heard’s allegations; Wasser previously argued that Heard is simply trying to secure financial gain.
