The Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union both received donations on Wednesday, August 24, just over a week after the two stars issued a statement that their divorce was settled on August 16.

Depp’s rep told Us Weekly in a statement, “Following Amber Heard’s announcement that her divorce settlement was to be divided equally and gifted to Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union, two exceptionally deserving and important charities, Johnny Depp has sent the first of multiple installments of those monies to each charity in the name of Amber Heard, which when complete will honor the full amount of Ms. Heard’s pledge.”

The rep added, “Ms. Heard’s generosity in giving to these wonderful causes is deeply respected.”

As previously reported, Heard, 30, announced to Us Weekly in a statement that she wasn’t receiving any financial gain from the divorce. “As described in the restraining order and divorce settlement, money played no role for me personally and never has, except to the extent that I could donate it to charity and, in doing so, hopefully help those less able to defend themselves,” the actress said in a statement, specifying that the ACLU donation will be focused toward helping battered women.

Back in May, the Danish Girl actress filed for divorce from the Pirates of the Caribbean star, 53. She also requested a domestic-violence restraining order against Depp, claiming that he was verbally and physically abusive throughout their 15-month marriage and three years of dating. Heard even appeared in court with bruises on her face and alleged he threw a cell phone at her. Depp’s lawyer Laura Wasser vehemently denied the abuse allegations.

The couple issued a joint statement to Us last week announcing they had resolved their divorce proceedings privately. “Our relationship was intensely passionate and at times volatile, but always bound by love,” the exes said. “Neither party has made false accusations for financial gain. There was never any intent of physical or emotional harm.”
