Taking their heat to the kitchen! Joshua Jackson opened up to Us Weekly about his girlfriend Diane Kruger, and the couple’s love for spending quality time by cooking together.
Us caught up with the Dawson’s Creek alum, 36, in Beverly Hills, Calif., for a screening of his acclaimed Showtime series The Affair. The drama gained traction with viewers in its first season, and found a fan in none other than Jackson’s longtime love, Kruger.
“Diane really likes the show,” Jackson told Us. He added that the two, who have been dating for about nine years, watch episodes together, despite the inclusion of Jackson’s steamy sex scenes with his on-screen wife Ruth Wilson. “It hasn’t been too awkward, but I certainly have plenty of friends in my personal life who, after the first episode were like, ‘You really needed to tell me to not watch that with my wife because now I’m in like awkward silence place for two days.’ Or you get the side-eye halfway through and you know you’re in trouble. That’s when as a man it’s good to just go up and get a beer. Just don’t be in the room for that next scene.”
When they aren’t watching The Affair together, Jackson told Us that he and Kruger, 38, retreat from the television to the kitchen.
“We love to cook,” he dished. “Because we’re all over the place so often, and an actor’s life is constantly in the air, to just be home and cook for each other and cook for friends is actually our greatest joy, probably.”
As to whether he’s a skilled chef, Jackson told Us, “I am not, but [Kruger] is.”
“I’m a very good sous chef now,” he added. “I’m an excellent assistant. Somebody’s got to do it.”
Jackson may be Kruger’s sous chef, but he is still not her fiancé, despite the fact that the two stars began dating in 2006. He addressed the lack of ring on his love’s finger in an interview with Glamour this past October.
“I can tell you why we’re not married: We’re not religious,” he told the mag. “I don’t feel any more or less committed to Diane for not having stood in front of a priest and had a giant party. We’re both children of divorce, so it’s hard for me to take marriage at face value as the thing that shows you’ve grown up and are committed to another person.”
“But it may change at some point,” he added, leaving his options with his model girlfriend open. “We may get married.”
