The odds are always in Julianne Moore’s favor! The ageless beauty stunned in a new shoot for the November issue of Modern Luxury’s Angeleno magazine, in which she dons gorgeous designs by J. Mendel, Chanel, Dior, and Altuzarra.
Opening up about her role as the calculating President Coin in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2, the Oscar winner, 54, said she strived to bring more depth to the character, who leads the rebellion alongside Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss.
“Because you see Coin from the view of Katniss, she’s not fully fleshed out,” the actress revealed. “But I wanted to give her a kind of an arc. I don’t want to give it away, but there’s a sense of evolution with Coin that leads potentially to a sense of disillusionment. I wanted her to evolve from someone who was revolutionary to someone who has inserted herself in a power structure.”
The young adult book series and film franchise — which is set to debut its final installment on Nov. 20 — ultimately asks a larger question of its fans, Moore explained. “How do you find your own moral compass in a world that says you must do this; you should do that?”
The Still Alice star, for one, looks to her husband of 12 years, Bart Freundlich, to help her navigate.
“Who somebody is, how they look at the world, the support that they offer you, is invaluable,” said the mom of Caleb, 17, and Liv, 13.
The lovebirds have remained in tune since meeting on the set of his movie The Myth of Fingerprints back in 1997. “Bart made me a mixtape when we first met,” the New York City resident recalled. “I played it so much that I wore it out. I just loved him so much that I just had to play that mixtape over and over, literally, until it wore out.”
