Big bang bombshell. Kaley Cuoco and her husband, Ryan Sweeting, have split, her rep confirmed to Us Weekly.
“Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting have mutually decided to end their marriage,” the statement read to Us. “They ask for privacy at this time. No further statement will be issued regarding this matter.”
The Big Bang Theory actress, 29, and the tennis pro, 28 — who wed on New Year’s Eve 2013 in a lavish ceremony on a ranch in Southern California — were married for nearly 21 months before their separation.
Prior to their split revelation on Friday, Sept. 25, Cuoco removed all photos involving Sweeting from her various social media accounts. Sweeting, meanwhile, completely stripped his Instagram account clean and disabled his Facebook page.
The pair last attended an event together on Sept. 10.
Us Weekly exclusively broke the news in September 2013 that the stars were engaged after a whirlwind three months of dating. Sweeting proposed to Cuoco three days after he and the actress made their big red carpet debut together at the 2013 Emmys.
“It’s only been three months but she knows Ryan is the one,” a source close to the actress told Us at the time. “When you know, you know.”
In the months leading up to their split, Cuoco publicly waged war against divorce rumblings and speculation. In April, the Wedding Ringer actress shared a now-deleted Instagram photo of her husband playing tennis.
“I have never been more proud of anyone on this planet — this guy is fighting back from a whirlwind of injuries and not to mention constant ‘conversation’ regarding our marriage and basically any daily decision we decide to make,” she gushed at the time.
“I’m so proud of his passion and his inner strength to fight back, but most of all I am proud to be his wife,” she continued. “So all of you who take it upon yourselves to trash our marriage, daily workings of our relationship and everything in between, go ahead and keep doing it, cause it only makes us stronger — if you were smart, you would take a look at your own marriage, relationship, job etc, instead of focusing on someone else’s. You might be surprised at what you find. ‘You know my name, not my story.'”
Prior to Sweeting, Cuoco famously dated her CBS costar Johnny Galecki from 2007 to 2010 — and the exes remained close. “He’s one of my dearest friends,” Cuoco told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live on Sept. 20. “Ryan loves him. Johnny loves [Ryan]. It’s been a long time, so it’s great. I got lucky! That could have been horrible.”
