Kanye West’s personal physician Dr. Michael Farzam told police that the rapper tried to assault a staff member at the gym before his hospitalization, TMZ reports.
According to the site, Farzam called 911 on Monday, November 21, and allegedly warned the dispatcher that Kim Kardashian’s husband “was not violent, but would become violent when police arrived to help.”
Following that phone call, as previously reported, authorities arrived at the L.A. home of West’s trainer Harley Pasternak on Monday, November 21. According to TMZ, the Yeezy fashion designer was “acting erratically” and was “handcuffed to the stretcher” before being transported to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center. West was restrained due to protocol since Farzam reportedly told authorities that he had placed his patient in a 5150 involuntary psychiatric hold, TMZ reports. (Per the website, there was also an issue over whether the doctor has actually put West in a 5150.)
A source told Us Weekly that the “Famous” rapper, 39, has been “suffering from exhaustion and sleep deprivation.” However, the insider counters TMZ’s claims, saying that West “went to the hospital today on his own will and under the consultation of his physician.”
After the incident, Kardashian, 36, rushed to be by her husband’s side, even changing her plans to attend the 2016 Angel Ball in NYC, an event which honored her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr. According to a second source, the couple have both been struggling in the aftermath of Kardashian’s terrifying gunpoint robbery in Paris. “She was supposed to be on a lot of the tour dates with him, and because of what happened with the robbery, she wasn’t feeling up for going to all of these different tour dates,” the source told Us. “So [Kanye] hasn’t had his family, his support system, with him. Kim is very worried.”
The health scare came days after West made headlines for a lengthy rant about Beyoncé, Jay Z and Hillary Clinton and ended a Sacramento, California, concert after just 30 minutes on Saturday. He later called off the remaining 21 dates of his Saint Pablo tour on Monday.
