Time for some private family bonding! The Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Prince William were seen leaving Kensington Palace on Wednesday, May 6, and Us Weekly can confirm that the royals are headed for the country with their newly expanded brood.

After welcoming new baby Charlotte on Saturday, May 2, the couple left the Palace at around 1:45 p.m. local time in London on Wednesday. Prince William, 32, hopped into the driver’s seat of a Range Rover, while Middleton, 33, took the front passenger seat, beginning their 116-mile journey to Anmer Hall in Norfolk.

The Duke will drive the two-and-a-half hours to the country estate with his two young children in the backseat. This is a big trip for the 4-day-old Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge, who will be spending time with her big brother Prince George, 21 months.

The Duchess gave a slight smile as she was captured by photographers leaving Kensington Palace. Looking as gorgeous as ever just a few days after giving birth, the mother of two was casually chic with her hair pulled back, a floral scarf around her neck, and classic pearl earrings dangling from her lobes.

The trip comes in the midst of Prince William’s paternity leave, which lasts until June 1. Middleton will spend the subsequent months off as well, bonding with her new daughter and caring for the two children with the help of a new night maternity nurse.

The family of four spent a couple of days at the palace after bringing Princess Charlotte home from the Lindo Wing at St. Mary’s Hospital in London. The Duke and the Duchess often escape to the stunning Anmer Hall for quality time and vacation.

Prince William and Middleton are expected to be regularly joined in the country by the Duchess’ mother Carole Middleton, as Us Weekly previously revealed. “She will be there for the first month to help out,” a source tells Us of Princess Charlotte’s maternal grandmother. “Kate feels like she owes so much to her mom for helping out during George’s birth and she couldn’t do it again without her. Nothing feels better than having your mom around during a time like this.”
