It's finally over. Katharine McPhee has filed for divorce from husband Nick Cokas, her rep confirms to Us Weekly. The news comes seven months after the actress was photographed making out with her former Smash director, Michael Morris.
"After six years of marriage, and having been separated for the past year, Katharine McPhee has filed for a dissolution of marriage from Nick Cokas," her rep tells Us in a statement. "The two have an amicable relationship and will remain friends. They ask that people respect their privacy during this time."
McPhee, 30, got swept up in the biggest scandal of her career back in October 2013 when she was caught kissing Morris in L.A. several months after the cancellation of their NBC show. At the time, the American Idol alum—who had been secretly separated from Cokas months before the photos emerged—was mortified by the incident, according to pals.
"She is SO embarrassed she was caught," a source told Us. "She should have known better!" (Morris has appeared to have since made up with his wife, actress Mary McCormack, with whom he shares three young daughters.) McPhee, for her part, also tried to work on her marriage with Cokas, 49, in the aftermath.
McPhee last appeared at the CBS Summer Soiree event in West Hollywood on May 19, where she promoted her new series Reckless.
