“I never saw it coming. We never anticipated it. I thought they would be together forever,” Maloney, 29, shared during a Monday, December 5, Facebook Live interview. “My heart goes out to them and I can’t even imagine, but I think it’s the best decision for them both, and I know that they will still be able to maintain a friendship.”

Added 34-year-old Schwartz: “It’s still so fresh. I haven’t really had time to process and reflect on it.”

Though they never expected Scheana’s split, Maloney believes that it will only make the “Shake That” singer a stronger person.

“Of course it’s heartbreaking, but it’s definitely the best choice,” the Pucker & Pout co-founder told Us. “I think definitely being single for a little while and reconnecting with herself [will be good for Scheana]. I think that’s important after a long relationship and going through a breakup. It’s good to get that back and to be happy with yourself.”

Scheana filed divorce documents on November 30. That same day, she and Mike released a joint statement to Us about their decision to call it quits.

“While we have made the difficult decision to move forward separately, our story will continue on through the love and mutual respect that we have cultivated throughout our 15-year friendship,” the estranged pair told Us. “Much of the recent speculation and reporting on our relationship has been misguided, and we have come to an amicable decision on all matters. We might have failed at our marriage, but we are committed to succeeding as friends and will continue to support each other’s personal happiness and professional success.”

Prior to the divorce filing, the pair had a tough few weeks. A source close to the duo told Us that “the relationship was strained” after an incident where Mike was reportedly unreachable for several days. In early November, TMZ reported that the musician did not return home after band practice and that Scheana became worried when she could not get in touch with him. A source told TMZ that Scheana worried Mike, who is sober after an eight-year painkiller addiction, “had fallen off the wagon.”

Mike refuted the rumors about him on Instagram on November 7. “I am not missing. I am sober. I am Happy!!!” he wrote alongside a photo of himself reading a recent copy of the Los Angeles Times newspaper. “Don’t believe everything you read. I love my wife and will always love my wife. Whatever is going on between us will stay between us! I love my family and my family loves me and a lot of things have been said out is protection and anger by many people. I just ready for the next chapter in my life!”

As for her own marriage, Maloney told Us on Monday that being Schwartz’s wife has been nothing short of amazing.

“It’s been bliss. The pressures have been lifted and we feel like we can kind of just relax into being partners and living the rest of our life,” she gushed. “It feels good. There’s no anticipation or insecurities about where it’s going. We’ve really gone through the stages of dating and being in a relationship and then moving in together and then getting engaged and now we’re married and we’re enjoying it.”
