Katy Perry Addresses Taylor Swift Feud Ahead of Super Bowl Performance: “You’re Going to Hear About It”

Katy Perry Responds to Taylor Swift Feud
Katy Perry addressed the Taylor Swift feud in a new interview, making a promise that fans will most definitely hear her roar -- get the scoop!

You will most definitely hear her roar, Tay. Ahead of her Super Bowl halftime gig on Sunday, Feb. 1, Katy Perry spoke to Billboard about her feud with Taylor Swift, saying a response will come.

The “Roar” singer, 30, promised the mag that she wasn’t one to simply take hits. “If somebody is trying to defame my character,” she said in response to the feud, “you’re going to hear about it.”

Swift and Perry’s public spat began last fall when the 1989 songstress revealed in a Rolling Stone interview that one of her singles, “Bad Blood,” was written for an unnamed mean girl. Swift described the fellow pop star as her “straight-up enemy” and claimed that the individual “did something so horrible.” More details on the feud here.

The day after the story went live, Perry fueled speculation by tweeting: “Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing…”

Us Weekly later confirmed that Swift’s dig was, in fact, written for Perry. “Katy knows Taylor’s song is about her, which is why she tweeted that,” one insider told Us at the time, saying both hitmakers (also exes of John Mayer) were “very competitive.” (In the months following, Perry’s then-boyfriend Diplo got involved in the feud, as well as Swift’s best friend Lorde, who rushed to the “Blank Space” songstress’ defense.)

Perry’s somewhat-threatening promise coincides with her pending halftime show performance at Super Bowl XLIX this week. “Everyone has been asking me if I’m going to be nervous before the halftime show,” she told Billboard. “I’m like, I’m…human. This is the biggest event of my career.”

She added: “I want the show to be quintessential Katy. It’s like the exclamation point on the whole last cycle. This is the cherry on top to everything I’ve already done.”

Us confirmed Friday that Grammy-winning rapper Missy Elliott will be joining Perry during her halftime performance, after it was hinted during the “Teenage Dream” singer’s Super Bowl press conference on Thursday, Jan. 29. “All I can say is that it will be a real female fun night,” Perry told reporters, including Us. “It’s a bit old school, but when this person enters the stage and you hear the first ring of the chord, jaws will drop and faces will melt.”

She added: “They call me boss lady on the field and off the field. I feel very honored and very proud and very blessed that I get to play the halftime show at this age. I feel like it’s an incredible humbling spiritual experience.”
