Katy Perry brought back Left Shark for Shark Week

He's back! Left Shark, Katy Perry's Super Bowl backup dancer and beloved Internet celebrity, has finally made his grand return.

The pop star, 30, resurrected the charmingly uncoordinated sidekick in honor of Shark Week, which returned to the Discovery Channel on Sunday, July 5. Now in its 28th year, the annual celebration of the feared underwater creatures inspired Perry to release a Left Shark-branded iPhone case with Claire's.

The "Roar" singer took to Twitter on Tuesday, July 7, to share a shot of the product. In typical Perry style, the case is sparkly and bold, featuring the Left Shark in all of his glory atop a silver glittered case.

"GUYS," she tweeted. "In celebration of #SharkWeek I created this #LeftShark phone case w/@ClairesStores #doesntbiteprotectorofphones."

The shark mascot rose to fame this past February, stealing the spotlight from his rival Right Shark when the two took the stage with Perry at Super Bowl XLIX. As Perry crooned her 2010 hit "Teenage Dream," Left Shark failed to execute the routine, commanding viewers' attention with his awkward moves.

Perry's off-again, and recently on-again boyfriend John Mayer caught up with both the Left and Right Sharks just days after the debut, interviewing the two insta-stars during his February 2015 stint hosting the Late Late Show. Wearing their trademark costumes, the sharks were unable to speak to Mayer, but were joined by "biologist" Carl Thorsen, who spoke on their behalf.
