Hakman, who said he is “bummed” about FYI pulling the plug on the series after just one season, told the outlet he has a hunch that Kardashian, 31, feels equally despondent.

“I’m sure she was upset internally as well. No one wants to get a show canceled,” the hunky mixologist explained. “It’s a lot of people’s jobs.”

Hakman, who competed on season 1 of MasterChef in 2010, then went on to reveal how he was told that the curtains were closing following a 14-episode run.

“The production company shared it with me and gave me the news. Obviously quietly, saying, ‘Hey, confidentially, we’re probably getting canceled. But we’ll find out in the next day or so if it’s going to get canceled after the season, or if it’s gonna just get canceled immediately,’” he said. “When I found out, I was obviously bummed to hear.”

The culinary artist turned TV personality noted that he, along with the rest of the Kocktails crew, were shocked by the news.

“The reality is that I think we’re all so surprised. It was rating well for the network, it was all positive. So, we were like, ‘OK, cool, fans are liking it,’ and we’re all trying to wrap our heads around how we can continue to grow this and make this interesting and fun,” he disclosed. “And then bam! It just sort of happened. Wow!”

On April 6, the day it was announced that Kocktails With Khloé wouldn’t return to air, a source told Us Weekly that, “Khloé wanted to stop doing the show to focus on other ventures. They had a really good run, but Khloé wanted it to end as she has so many things going on right now.”

Regardless of any disappointment about the show ending, Kardashian took to Twitter on April 6 to share a special message with those who offered their support.

XO.”
