Kim Kardashian opened up to Matt Lauer about stepdad Bruce Jenner's transition, saying the former Olympian has found "inner peace" and "pure happiness"

“Bruce is the most honest…just, he has the biggest heart. And I’m really happy for him that he is living his life the way he wants to live it, and that he has found inner peace and just pure happiness,” Kardashian, 34, told the Today show’s Matt Lauer of the former Olympian.

“That’s what life is about,” she continued. “I don’t know what life would be like if you always felt like you weren’t yourself. And I know it’s not something that you or I could really fully understand, but I don’t even think we have to. I think as long as he is happy and he wants to live his life, however he wants to live it, that just makes me happy, and I support him 100 percent.”

Asked whether there was a period of adjustment after she first found out, the mom to North, 22 months, admitted, “I think there is still an adjustment, and there’s family therapy. We’re really close…We all really support him. Is it a hard adjustment? Yes…It’s an adjustment on how to deal with it. It’s a daily process.”

Pressed for more, she told Lauer that she and her family — including siblings Kourtney, Khloe, Kylie, Kendall, and Rob — had been talking with various LGBT organizations to address their questions. For example, “What do we call him? Do we say him or her? And how do we be respectful?”

(Kardashian confirmed what Sawyer said on Friday — that Jenner should, for now, still be referred to using the pronouns “he” and “him.”)

“I think that everything takes time,” she added. “I mean, Bruce wants us to feel as comfortable as possible and take everything at our own pace, and we love him for that, and we respect him for that…Bruce has always been really really good at explaining everything to us, even though it’s really new and these have been newer feelings — not newer feelings for him but for us to digest. He’s done a really good job at walking us through it.”

It helps, too, that they’re all walking through it together. “There were lots of family meetings. There was every emotion you could possibly imagine,” Kardashian told Lauer, noting that they still get together to talk about things.

“Say what you want about us, but we work out everything as a family, and we have the best communication and we are so in sync with each other,” she continued. “I love having so many siblings and such a supportive mom, because each family member might be dealing with this in a different way, but we have each other to go through this experience with, and I’m really grateful for that.”

As for Jenner himself? “I think he is prepared for [the attention],” she mused. “I think he’s waited almost 65 years to make this decision, whether he’s kept it to himself or not, he’s lived with it. And I think when you are finally ready to be your true self, then you’re prepared for anything.”

He’s also eager to help others who might be in the same situation. “That’s something that he’s really proud of, and something that he is really ready to take on,” Kardashian shared, “and I’m really proud of him for that.”
