Now that would be a touchdown double date! Kristin Cavallari opened up to Us Weekly exclusively last week about her life with Jay Cutler, their two little boys, and whether she and her NFL hubby would ever grab dinner with rival NFL couple Aaron Rodgers and Olivia Munn.
The Laguna Beach alum, 28 — who is spearheading the NFL’s Pinterest boards as the 80th anniversary of the NFL Draft which ended on Saturday, May 2 — made headlines several months ago after calling out her husband’s Chicago Bears teammate Kyle Long for joking that Munn was the hotter football WAG.
“Kyle’s like a brother to me,” she told Us. “He’s Jay’s best friend so I was 100 percent joking. I think the question was, ‘Whose girlfriend do you like better: Aaron Rodgers or Cuttie’s?’ And he said, ‘Well Cuttie’s married and I like The Newsroom.’ He was 100 percent politically correct.”
The Hills alum said people’s reactions surprised her. “[They] took it like I was really mad about it and I think I’m hotter than Olivia Munn,” she noted. “Which is completely ridiculous. It was taken way out of context, it was really just supposed to be a silly joke. Kyle’s literally like a brother.”
Historically, the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers share a healthy NFC North rivalry. According to Cavallari, that contentiousness between teams and fans is, in some ways, overblown.
“Jay likes Aaron a lot,” Cavallari told Us of her husband, 32. “He only has really good things to say about him.” As for whether they would actually grab dinner with Rodgers and his actress girlfriend?
“I’ve never met Olivia Munn but yeah,” Cavallari continued. “It has nothing to do with the fact that they’re on the rival team. We would 100 percent hang out with them.” The shoe designer added that she “wouldn’t be opposed to” hanging out with another superstar football couple: Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen. “I just saw she went to an event to label GMOs, which is right up my alley,” she noted of the supermodel. “I thought that was really cool.”
After all, Cavallari has been a champion lately against GMOs — which is all part of her organic, all-natural lifestyle. “I’m a huge health nut, so I eat really healthy,” she told Us. “I’m constantly reading ingredient labels and if there’s some scary or controversial chemicals on there, I typically don’t eat them.”
She also maintains that glow with a strict fitness regimen. “I’ve been working out with a trainer three days a week and he really pushes me,” she told Us. “I’ve been doing a lot of lower reps but heavier weight. I’ve been trying to gain some muscle, and so he has me drinking protein shakes right after I finish working out and I drink a protein shake on my own usually before I go to bed a few times a week…. For me, it’s really [about trying to gain] weight right now. Once I had kids my body completely changed, I don’t know how or why.”
She welcomed her second son, Jax, with Cutler last May; his older brother Camden is 2. “Typically, if I’m at home in Chicago, I wake up with the boys, give them breakfast and everything,” she told Us. “And then three days a week, I work out.”
Life inside the seemingly glamorous Cutler-Cavallari household, however, is nothing out of the ordinary. “I make dinner every night for the family, and Jay’s back working,” she told Us. “He only goes in four days a week for a few hours, so he’s been around a lot, which is nice. I’ve been traveling a lot, doing different things. We have a very normal life.”
Her array of activities includes a newfound appreciation for Pinterest, which she joined last week under her actual name. “I love Pinterest for fashion inspiration. I also love getting recipe ideas,” she told Us.
To tap this love for the social media site, Cavallari (“with my football connection”) teamed up with the NFL to help curate their boards — and she got to work with an actual legend: former Chicago Bear Dick Butkus. “[Jay] was definitely really excited that I get to work with him,” she told Us of shooting video with Buktus. “He’s never met Dick so he was really excited for me.”
