Kyle Richards and Kathy Hilton are still not getting along. As Real Housewives of Beverly Hills fans are well aware, the half-sisters have been on the outs due to family dynamics, but sources tell Us Weekly it’s mainly because of their husbands’ competing businesses.
According to one source, Richards and Hilton, 56, have tension because Hilton’s husband, Rick, was unhappy with Richards’ husband, Mauricio Umansky, after he left Hilton & Hyland to start his own luxury real-estate brokerage, The Agency.
“Rick thinks Mauricio has created too much of a competition by breaking off with his own real-estate business,” an insider explains to Us of the feud. “And Kyle won’t be anywhere near Rick and Kathy without her husband, understandably, so every family gathering is full of tension.”
Case in point: the Hiltons’ annual Christmas party.
According to a friend of the family, Bravo star Richards, 46, avoided Kathy’s annual holiday bash to stand by her husband. “Kyle skipped the party because Mauricio wasn’t invited,” the source explains of their latest tiff, adding, "Kathy has always treated Kyle like a little sister and Kyle is just over it.”
As for Richards being momentarily uninvited to Kathy’s daughter Nicky Hilton’s wedding this past summer, as fans saw on a recent episode of RHOBH? A third source explains that there’s also tension when it comes to Richards’ scripted show deal, which revolves around her childhood in the '70s.
“Kathy was mad about Kyle signing the new deal for the show about her upbringing without consulting her,” the insider explains.
Another source tells Us, "Kyle doesn't feel she needs to get Kathy's permission to tell the story of her own life."
“Family dynamics can be very complicated and my family can be no exception," Richards said herself during a recent episode of RHOBH. “I don’t even know how to describe the relationship between me and my sisters right now. … It’s just really bad.”
