Monday's Dancing with the Stars revealed just how frightening — and potentially debilitating — Kym Johnson's recent injury was.
Rehearsal footage shot Friday showed Johnson practicing in the studio with celeb partner Hines Ward when a daring move went terribly wrong.?? NFL pro Ward accidentally dropped Johnson, 34, who dangerously landed on her neck, leaving the studio in a neck brace and on a stretcher, bound for a local hospital.
"I can't feel my arms," Johnson cries, lying on the studio floor. Ward told the cameras he felt "sick" after the slip — particularly after his devoted partner worried about the "wasted day" of rehearsal time prompted by her injury. "I didn't want to drop her."
"I'm not even thinking about the competition," Ward said as Johnson left in an ambulance. "I just hope and pray she's all right.??And indeed she was.
Performing a tango, the duo nabbed a trio of perfect 10s — and got teary-eyed as the audience and judges applauded.??"It was like good sex," judge Bruno Tonioli raved.??"I'm so impressed with the way you partnered her," Carrie Ann Inaba added. "The connection was just beyond what we ask for in a dance routine."
Backstage, Ward was still emotional. "Praise God she's still walking," he told host Brooke Burke. "She's a warrior.??"
Added Johnson: "It was really bad. I feel so blessed and lucky to be okay."
The duo scored another perfect set of 10s for their second routine. "You're just beautiful, man," Tonioli said.
Also having a perfect night? Their opponents Chelsea Kane and partner Mark Ballas, who also nabbed perfect scores for both of their dances — and defeated Ward plus Ralph Macchio and Kirstie Alley in the "Winner Take All Cha Cha" round.
