Lamar tells all! Lamar Odom opened up about the Kardashian family and his stint in rehab in an in-depth interview with The Doctors set to air in January, his first since his near-fatal overdose in October 2015.

“Lamar Odom has checked into rehab,” his rep exclusively told Us in a statement Thursday, December 15. “After consulting with his family and friends, and meeting with Dr. Travis Stork of The Doctors, he has decided it is best he take time to focus on himself. He is dedicated to leading a healthy lifestyle and being the best father he can be to his children. Lamar asks that the public please respect his privacy at this time and truly appreciates the love and support of his family, friends and fans. He will talk about his journey in January on The Doctors.”

In an intense new teaser trailer for the interview, Lamar Odom’s Road to Rehab, the 37-year-old athlete is asked point-blank by one of the doctors: “There are reports that you’ve still been using substances — is that true or false?” In the clip, Odom remains silent.

The trailer also promises that the former NBA star will give a “candid confessional” during the interview, which will span topics ranging from his life-threatening overdose, how he is dealing with his “demons” and his relationship with the Kardashian family.

In October 2015, Odom was found unconscious at a Nevada brothel and was subsequently treated at a private rehabilitation center in Calabasas, California. His then-estranged wife, Khloé Kardashian, withdrew her divorce papers at the time so that she could continue to care for him and make medical decisions on his behalf.

Odom has only spoken out about his experience once before, on an episode of last season’s Keeping Up With the Kardashians. “I can remember being scared half to death. … I was trapped in my body. I couldn’t even say ‘Excuse me’ or ‘Thank you,’” he said at the time. “Now I’m taking it day by day.”

Earlier this week, the Laker alum checked himself into rehab at a facility near San Diego. A source close to the basketball player exclusively told Us that “he went to continue making sure he stays sober and on the right path. It was something he chose to do.”

According to the insider, Odom “did it for his kids” and so that he could “feel 100 percent again. He did not relapse, but felt like he wanted to get away and start fresh for the New Year.”

Odom will star in his own forthcoming reality show focused on his recovery, another source confirmed to Us.
