Lara Logan is back in hospital following complications from her 2011 sexual assault

Lara Logan is back in hospital in Washington, D.C. suffering from complications following the sexual assault she endured in Egypt in 2011, Breibart News reports.

Ed Butowsky, a close friend of the 60 Minutes correspondent, confirmed to the outlet that Logan had been rehospitalized and continued to suffer symptoms stemming from her brutal attack while covering the Arab Spring for CBS News.

"Very few people know how stoic and incredibly tough this lady is. In spite of everything she’s had to face in the last two years, people have no idea the physical suffering she has been enduring due to the brutal sexual assault she encountered in Egypt during the Arab Spring while reporting for 60 Minutes," Butowsky said.

"I’ve been in and around this business and people don’t understand how hard reporters work and how much time they put in. Lara, above all of it, has been doing it for four years since this brutal attack and suffering in every way, shape or form. Maybe it’s time for people to realize these people are human beings," he added.

A spokesman for 60 Minutes confirmed via a statement that 43-year-old Logan was in the hospital. "We were sorry to hear this morning that Lara was readmitted to the hospital," the statement read. "We wish her a speedy recovery."

As Us Weekly reported in February, mom-of-two Logan was treated for internal bleeding and the digestive disease diverticulitis earlier this year. Her friend Butowsky revealed she has in fact been admitted to hospital four times this year already, and has been in and out of medical facilities regularly ever since she was assaulted.

Logan spoke about her brutal attack back in 2011. "There was no doubt in my mind that I was in the process of dying," the brave reporter said. "I thought not only am I going to die, but it’s going to be just a torturous death that’s going to go on forever."
