Liam Hemsworth is putting some much-needed distance into his relationship. Amid ongoing and increasing problems with fiancee Miley Cyrus, the Hunger Games star, 23, escaped to Canada's Toronto International Film Festival with his family to support brother Chris Hemsworth.
Dapper in a dark gray suit and skinny black tie, Liam smiled alongside Chris, 30, and their older brother Luke, 31, at the festival premiere of Chris' new movie Rush on Sunday, Sept. 8. The trio were also joined by their parents, Leonie and Craig Hemsworth, at the Grey Goose-hosted after-party at the Thompson Hotel, where they celebrated until 1:30 in the morning.
The family outing couldn't come at a better time for the youngest Hemsworth brother. As Us Weekly exclusively reported earlier, the Australian hunk has been going through an extended rough patch with his fiancee and may be on the verge of ending their relationship for good.
"He is over her and wants to make a clean break," a source told Us of Liam, whom Cyrus met while filming 2009's The Last Song. "No more back and forth."
Added another source: "They're not even sleeping in the same room." (The couple currently live together at Cyrus' home in L.A.'s Toluca Lake.)
Among their issues? The Hannah Montana alum's provocative duet with Robin Thicke at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. One insider told Us that the singer's fiance found the performance "mortifying" and was "embarrassed by all the attention on her."
This isn't the first time the couple have been plagued by problems, of course. But it could be the last. According to one source, the two are "just weeks away from calling it off permanently."
