Lil Wayne’s Alleged House Shooting in Miami a Hoax, Police Confirm

Lil Wayne was unharmed during an alleged shooting at his Miami Beach home on March 11.

UPDATE: Miami Beach Police confirmed that the 9-1-1 call was a hoax. There were no injures. The department's official handle tweeted the news. 

Original Story: Good thing he was out! On Wednesday, March 11, police rushed to the Miami Beach home of Lil Wayne after multiple gunshots were fired. TMZ reports that the person who called 9-1-1 claimed four people had been shot.

Apparently a perimeter has since been set up around the home, but its famous owner wasn’t inside at the time of the shooting.

Weezy’s Young Money label tweeted out, “Wayne is okay. Wasn’t home during alleged events,” shortly after the news broke. The rapper hasn’t tweeted from his own official handle yet.

TMZ also reports that police believe this event might be a case of “swatting” — a situation where someone prank calls officers to prompt a “full force response” from the cops.

The site also notes that 11 days ago, police were called to the house to check on a person they claimed was lurking outside the home, but the suspect was let go as he was on private property.
