Tiger Woods and Lindsey Vonn are done hiding how they feel about each other — and to prove it, they're planning to walk their first red carpet together at one of the flashiest, most star-studded events of the year. The once-undercover couple will make their official debut at the 2013 Met Gala on Monday, May 6, in New York City, sources tell Us Weekly exclusively.
Insiders say the pro golfer and his Olympic gold medal-winning girlfriend will attend as guests of Vogue. The magazine is also dressing both athletes, though there's no word yet on which designers will be called upon for the occasion.
In any case, the two are sure to make a lasting impression just by showing up. They'll be among some of Hollywood's most fashionable elite, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Alba, Kristen Stewart, Jessica Biel, and Jennifer Lawrence.
Woods, 37, and Vonn, 28, confirmed their relationship on Facebook in March, after months of speculation. "I guess it wasn't a well-kept secret but yes, I am dating Tiger Woods," the once-divorced skier wrote. (She and fellow skier Thomas Vonn quietly ended their four-year marriage in November 2011.)
"Our relationship evolved from a friendship into something more over these past few months, and it has made me very happy," she continued.
Added Woods, who famously split from Elin Nordegren in 2010 after his very public cheating scandal: "Lindsey and I have been friends for some time, but over the last few months we have become close and are now dating…We want to continue our relationship, privately, as an ordinary couple…"
"He confessed everything in his past to her," a source told Us earlier this year of the golfer. "They're really into each other."
