Blindsided. By Hollywood standards, Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Regina King kept their live-in relationship quiet and low-key. But when Warner opted to end the serious romance after two-plus years, it came as a sudden, heartbreaking shock for King. "It's totally done. She's still really disappointed that it ended and with how he did it," a source tells Us Weekly. Indeed. Explaining he "wasn't feeling it anymore," the Cosby Show actor abruptly asked the Southland star and her young son from a previous relationship to move out of their shared home, according to the source.
"She thought this would really last for good, they were so close as a family," continues the insider of Warner and King, both 42 and friends since their days as working child TV actors on the Cosby Show and 227.
"They knew each other forever and then out of nowhere he dumped her," the source marvels. "She's still confused and hurt and doesn't know what happened."
"I believe the universe has a plan, and we probably wouldn't have been ready years ago. We both had to do whatever we had to do to be ready for each other now," King told Parade back in January 2012.
Warner has never been married and has no children of his own. King, meanwhile, shares her son with ex-husband Ian Alexander Jr., whom she divorced in 2007 after ten years together. Adds the source: "I think it will be a long time before she opens herself up to someone again."
