A picture is worth a thousand words. Melanie Griffith took on a no-nonsense attitude with naysayers by posting an unfiltered photo of herself on Instagram on Friday, Dec. 11 — just a few short days after finalizing her divorce from ex Antonio Banderas.
“Here ya go. Unfiltered. I’m 58,” she captioned the smug selfie. “And I’m in Hawaii Five O playing Scott Caan’s Mom. Go ahead… Say some more mean things. Merry Christmas.”
In the photo, the Working Girl actress’ blonde hair cascades in curls to her shoulders, and her makeup looks on point. (The actress received some rude comments from fans a few days earlier, when she posted a snapshot of her legs up against a beautiful Hawaiian background.)
Earlier in the week, she and Banderas, 55, finalized their divorce, with the details of their split revealing that the actor will have to shell out a whopping $65,000 a month to Griffith in spousal support.
According to TMZ, the pair will have to split their earnings for all their films made between 2004 to 2014, including Banderas’ hit films Shrek 2, Puss in Boots, Machete Kills and The Expendables 3. The Spanish actor will get to keep all the profits from other blockbusters, including The Mask of Zorro, Spy Kids and Desperado.
On Wednesday, the actress shared a quote on Instagram to fend off people who might be critical of their divorce.
“Divorce isn’t such a tragedy. A tragedy’s staying in an unhappy marriage, teaching your children the wrong things about love. Nobody ever died of divorce,” she quoted Jennifer Weiner in Fly Away Home.
“Amen!” she commented. “Love my kids, love my ex’s. Always and forever. #nobody’s business.”
In June 2014, the couple told Us in a statement that they had “thoughtfully and consensually decided to finalize our almost 20-year marriage in a loving and friendly manner. Honoring and respecting each other, our family and friends, and the beautiful time we have spent together.”
The pair share one teenage daughter, Stella, who graduated high school this year. Griffith is also mom of Fifty Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson and son Alex Bauer from two previous marriages.
