Michelle Obama Is “Too Young for 51,” Says Adorable Fan

Connecting with the kids! First Lady Michelle Obama had an adorable moment with one young, very complimentary fan on Wednesday, April 23.

The lawyer, 51, spoke to children at the White House in honor of the nationwide Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day. As little ones visited our nation’s capital, Mrs. Obama answered questions from the kids on a bevy of topics.

One little girl caught the First Lady’s eye with the pink sash she was wearing. The young woman took the mic, and asked as only a kid can, “How old are you?”

Looking taken aback, President Obama‘s wife repeated the question with a laugh before answering, “I’m 51.” The girl gave a shocked response and prompted Obama to ask, “What does that mean? What’s that look?”

“You’re way too young for a 51-year-old!” the fan said, going on to repeat her take twice at the First Lady’s urging.

“You should come up and give me a hug!” Obama exclaimed after thanking her supporter. “Come on up here! Come give me a hug for that one!”

While she got quite the warm embrace from the girl who questioned her age, the Princeton University graduate got an entirely different response from another young constituent.

An 8-year-old boy named Peter had his letter to the First Lady go viral this week, after he questioned Obama’s stance on ketchup. Responding to the mother of two’s guidelines for school lunches, the little boy voiced his support of ketchup and asked the leader to do the same.

“Dear Michelle Obama,” the letter, dated Oct. 2, 2014, began. “My name is Peter. I am eight years old. I love studying the history of the U.S.A. I have enjoyed learning about the great choices the U.S.A. has made.”

“And then [there] was your husband’s election,” Peter continues in the letter, which was first printed by The Weekly Standard. “I think you should rethink your idea that takes us to one ketchup packet per meal. I feel that is taking away our patriotism toward America.”
