Miley Cyrus has shot down rumors about possibly starring as Tinkerbell in the Peter Pan live musical

Never never land! Miley Cyrus has no desire to throw pixie dust and befriend the Lost Boys. The "Wrecking Ball" songstress gave a hilarious (and not so subtle) reaction to rumors that she may be joining the upcoming Peter Pan live musical as Tinkerbell for NBC.

"I would rather choke on my own tongue," Cyrus, 21, tweeted on Monday, Feb. 24. Alongside the caption, the entertainer — whose punk blonde pixie 'do recalls that actual pixie fairy — also posted a photo of a Star magazine clipping with the headline: "Just Call Her Twerker Bell."

Rumors of Cyrus taking part in the live musical began back in December, when NBC's Robert Greenblatt announced that Carrie Underwood's successful run with The Sound of Music Live! would be followed up with a live rendition of the classic 1954 broadway play. (The original production, starring Mary Martin, was also a live TV special back in 1960.)

"We had so much doing a big musical that the family could watch over the holidays, so we're going to do it again," Greenblatt said in a statement. "We were all delighted to see how The Sound of Music Live! struck such a chord in December and brought nearly 19 million people to the live telecast plus another several million viewers over the weekend. In the hopes that lightning strikes twice, we think we've landed on another great Broadway musical — which ironically also starred Mary Martin—that is a timeless classic for all audiences, young and old, who just never want to grow up."

When asked about potential casting for the live production, he quipped: "I want Miley Cyrus!"
