Bieber fever! Justin Bieber was the big winner at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Milan, Italy, on Sunday, Oct. 25, taking home five awards throughout the night.
The Canadian pop star, 21, took home the awards for Best Male, Best Look, Biggest Fans, Best Canadian Act, and Best Collaboration.
“It’s been a long couple of years,” the “Sorry” singer told the audience. “I just feel like this is pretty awesome to be recognized for my music. I want to thank all of my fans. You guys are really incredible. I want to thank my mom and dad and God and everyone that helped me get to this place… I love you. Thank you.”
Selena Gomez’s ex performed his current hit, “What Do U Mean?,” after collecting his first award, looking casual in a long red T-shirt.
The show, hosted by Ruby Rose and Ed Sheeran, also honored Taylor Swift taking home Best Song for her 2015 summer smash “Bad Blood” and Rihanna winning the award for Best Female. Both women were no-shows — Swift is currently on tour. One Direction took home the prize for Best Pop.
The show’s hosts kept the audience amused, with Sheeran, 24, at one point teaching the Orange Is the New Black star, 29, how to use a flame thrower. The British crooner also took home an award for Best Live Act, and seemed confused by his win.
“Sorry I missed all of that because I was having a conversation,” Sheeran told the crowd. “What award is this? Best live? Sound?” He also took the award for Best World Stage Award.
