Nicki Minaj bailed her brother Jelani Maraj out of jail after he was arrested on charges of raping a 12-year-old, the New York Post reported on Saturday, Dec. 5, citing court documents.
According to the paper, the Grammy nominee posted Maraj’s $100,000 bond on Friday in Nassau County, where he’d been in custody since his arrest. The Post reported that the bond was backed by two of the rapper’s homes in Baldwin, N.Y.
As previously reported, Maraj, 37, was arraigned last week on charges of first-degree rape and first-degree sexual conduct against a child. Per the Associated Press, investigators wrote in court documents that he’d raped the victim several times between April and November.
Minaj, for her part, has yet to comment on her brother’s arrest or on the reports that she bailed him out of jail, but this is not the first time she’s had his back. Back in August, she reportedly footed the bill for his wedding to longtime girlfriend Jacqueline Robinson.
“Jelani, I love u more than you’ll ever comprehend,” she captioned an Instagram photo at the time. “I would cross the ocean for u. I would go & bring u the moon. Promise u. For u I will. I love my brother so much man.”
