Olivia Munn is far from a football aficionado. The Newsroom actress, 34, is dating one of the NFL’s hottest stars, but when they met, she had no idea who he was.
With her now-boyfriend Aaron Rodgers waiting backstage, Munn appeared on Conan on Wednesday, Jan. 21, and dished to Conan O’Brien about meeting the Green Bay Packers quarterback.
“I had no idea,” she spilled to O’Brien about Rodgers’ notoriety. “When I met him, I said, ‘So, what do you do?’ And he’s like, ‘Oh, I play football.’ I go, ‘Cool, what college?’ He’s like, ‘Oh no, I play professionally.’ I go, ‘Cool, what position?’ He’s like, ‘Quarterback.'”
“That was kinda it, not knowing that he’s like, you know, Super Bowl MVP, or any of those things,” she continued of the athlete, who played in the NFC Championship game against the Seattle Seahawks this past weekend. “All I saw was that he was really attractive. I didn’t really care what he did.”
Rodgers, 31, started dating Munn in early 2014, as Us Weekly exclusively revealed. The coupling followed the Mortdecai actress’ split from her boyfriend of two years, The Killing star Joel Kinnaman. She was also previously linked to Chris Pine and Bryan Greenberg.
For his part, Rodgers was attached to the likes of Jessica Szohr and Lady Antebellum’s Hillary Scott before meeting Munn.
“I’m real happy in my relationship,” Rodgers told ESPN Wisconsin last year. “I understand what comes with it… The last couple years, I’ve learned a lot about perspective and what’s important.”
Since they started dating, the actress has become a die-hard Packers fan, spending time in Wisconsin with her love and cheering him on at games.
“I think I’m a good fan,” she told Seth Meyers earlier this week. “I’m there and I’m screaming a lot. I think it’s really important to scream and my acupuncturist told me energy follows thought. That was a very Hollywood sentence for you guys.”
