Penn Badgley is sending his congratulations to ex-girlfriend Blake Lively on her marriage to Ryan Reynolds.
"I'm happy for her," Badgley, 25, told Us Weekly exclusively at the Toronto International Film Festival on Monday. "Genuinely happy."
Multiples sources confirmed to Us that Lively, 25, and Reynolds, 35, tied the knot Sunday after one year of dating at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina — the same place where The Notebook was filmed in 2004.

Now dating Zoe Kravitz, Badgley himself has much to celebrate: he's getting the best reviews of his career for his new role in Greetings from Tim Buckley, which premiered in Toronto on Sunday. In the film, the actor is portraying late singer Jeff Buckley, who drowned tragically in 1997 at the age of 30. "With the cool mischievousness and dark good looks of a young James Franco, Badgley has a seductive energy that always seems to be about to go someplace dangerous . . ." The Hollywood Reporter raved of Badgley's portrayal of the musician.
Anthrax bassist Frank Bells, who plays Richard Hell in the movie, told Movie Line, "When Penn did that record-store scene, I was like f—ing go for it dude. And he literally went for it. He let go. He became that character . . . Penn went for it. And he got it."
Badgley adds that he doesn't know "that [their marriage] is confirmed" and heard the news along with the rest of the world on Sunday night. "[People] were like, 'Hey, did you hear that Blake's getting married?' I was like, 'OK, great!' "
But he tells Us, "Obviously people are going try to connect us in ways in which we're not connected anymore. But it's great. I'm happy for her."
Badgley and Lively, who both star on Gossip Girl, began dating in 2007 and called it quits in September 2010.
The 6th, final season of Gossip Girl, meanwhile, gets underway on Monday, Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. EST.
