Jessica Simpson‘s daughter Maxwell is one lucky kid. She has a baby brother on the way, another built-in playmate in CaCee Cobb‘s future son, and a protective older cousin in Bronx, the 4-year-old son of Simpson’s sister, Ashlee, and her ex-husband, Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz. In a new interview for KIIS FM‘s On Air With Ryan Seacrest, Wentz says his little boy “loves” spending time with Simpson’s nearly 12-month-old little girl.
“Bronx definitely hangs out with Maxwell,” the 33-year-old musician says. “He loves having a cousin…He likes being the big cousin, like being the big boy in the room, so that’s fun.”
Indeed, the rocker’s ex-wife told Us Weekly in February that her son dotes on the younger tot. “He is definitely protective, and he’s so excited about every time she’s growing,” “Bat for a Heart” singer Ashlee, 28, gushed to Us. “He loves that stuff!”
He also loves reggae, apparently. “He likes a lot of Bob Marley,” Wentz tells Ryan Seacrest of his son’s musical tastes. “He’s definitely very opinionated. He will tell me if he wants to listen to a song or if he doesn’t want to listen to a song, but mostly on the way to school, it’s a lot of questions. I was reading the other day [that] 4-year-olds ask about 400 or 500 questions a day, and that’s pretty close — we do about 200 before 9 a.m.”
The proud papa says he thinks he’d like for Bronx to follow in his footsteps one day and become a musician, but he doesn’t want to force it. “I think the problem is, if you push any of that stuff too hard, there’s a rebellion. He’ll probably be into math or something like that,” Wentz jokes. “Right now we are just working on going to preschool…”
“I love being a dad,” adds the rocker, who has been dating model Meagan Camper since the fall of 2011. “I don’t see more kids in my immediate future, but def[initely] in my future. I think it’s brought out a really great side of me and how I feel and how I interact with the world. It’s made me a more positive person, so I definitely would like more.”
