Original Story:
The investigation into Philip Seymour Hoffman's death continues. After the 46-year-old Oscar-winning actor was found dead from an apparent drug overdose in New York on Sunday, Feb. 2, police told ABC News on Monday that roughly 50 bags of heroin were discovered inside Hoffman's West Village apartment.
According to an unnamed law enforcement official, investigators found the bags of heroin along with used syringes, drug paraphernalia and prescription drugs. The Associated Press reported Monday that police said some packets were labeled with the ace of hearts symbol, and others with words "Ace of Spades" and that symbol. According to the New York Post, investigators are trying to find the drug dealer who allegedly supplied Hoffman with the heroin.
A cause of death has not yet been determined, and medical examiner spokeswoman Julie Bolcer told USA Today that an autopsy will be conducted Monday.
Hoffman was found dead with a hypodermic needle in his arm in the bathroom of his apartment. The Master actor completed a 10-day rehab stint in May 2013 after relapsing from 23 years of sobriety.
He is survived by three young children — son Cooper and daughters Tallulah and Willa — and longtime partner Mimi O'Donnell. A source told Us Weekly that on the day of his death, Hoffman was supposed to pick of his kids from O'Donnell on Sunday, but never showed.
