Braids for Burners! Cara Delevingne, older sister Poppy Delevingne and Paris Hilton are living proof that plaits are the go-to hairstyle at the 30th annual Burning Man festival in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert.
All three celebs debuted variations on the same ‘do while attending the environmentally conscious art and music fest out in the middle of nowhere (the nearest town, Gerlach, is about 20 miles away). Both Delevingne sisters turned to celeb stylist Laura Polko, who added colorful extensions for length and interest.
The Suicide Squad actress, 24, divided her hair into five sections, for pink, purple and blue boxer braids, which fell all the way down to her rib cage. “@caradelevingne mad max braids for the burn baby 😈😈,” Polko captioned a Monday, August 29, pic of a makeup-free Cara in her plaits.
Her sister Poppy, on the other hand, went classic with pigtail French braids that included teal and baby pink add-ins. “@poppydelevingne burningman ready… 💥💥,” Polko wrote.
Instead of braiding colorful faux tresses into her blonde mane, Hilton, 35, decided to add golden rings and bits of cloth, which were created by Chris Dylan.
The DJ proved she was still having fun despite the storm by creating “dust angels” in a video posted to Instagram on August 30: “This is what happens when you’re a #PlayaVirgin entering into #BurningMan for the first time. … ✨👼🏼✨”
All three styles are perfect for the desert festival, which was hit with a dust storm on Wednesday, August 31. Whereas a bun or a topknot will definitely lose its hold, tightly braided strands will never be gone with the wind.
