One concertgoer tells Us Weekly, “He sang well and was emotive and just incredible, of course. He didn’t seem unwell.” Another fan who attended the show tells Us, “He sounded amazing and he looked great. But I know he had to reschedule due to the flu and then he had some complications after the concert.”

The “When Doves Cry” singer canceled two shows in early April due to the flu. Although he still felt ill, Prince performed to the fullest on April 14.

“I wouldn’t have known he was sick,” Stiger tells Us, noting that Prince did have to take a few breaks throughout the hour-and-half-long concert.

“He did leave the stage a few times. We weren’t sure why,” recalls Stiger. “He would walk off, be gone for a minute or two. The longest break he took was five minutes — but then he’d come back out and sit down [at the piano].”

Just hours after his final show, his private jet made an emergency landing in Illinois because Prince was suffering from what his rep said were flu symptoms. The musician was taken to a hospital in Moline, Illinois, where he was treated and released three hours later.

After returning home to rest on April 15, Prince responded to fans who took in his last performance. On Sunday, April 17, the music icon tweeted at a concertgoer: “I’ve barely slept since that nite. #FeelingRejuvenated #FeelingInspired #FeelingLoved.”

Last month, Prince performed at a private concert in New York City and in Toronto.

According to fan Noelle Munaretto, who attended Prince’s March 25 show in Toronto at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, he was “emotive, physically and emotionally.”

“That’s why I’m stunned,” Munaretto tells Us. “He had enough stamina to do two shows in a row. … Nothing indicated to me that he was unwell.”
