A Minnesota judge ruled on Wednesday, April 27, that Prince died without a valid will and has appointed Bremer Trust to temporarily oversee the late icon's multimillion-dollar estate, according to the Associated Press.
Judge Kevin Eide gave the trust company the responsibility and "authority to manage and supervise [Prince's] assets and determine the identity of [his] heirs," according to court documents. Bremer will act as an administrator for six months or until a personal representative takes over. As previously reported, the value of Prince's estate is estimated to be around $300 million.
TMZ reports that Prince's assets could be divided among his living brothers and sisters — Tyka Nelson, John Nelson, Norrine Nelson, Sharon Nelson, Alfred Jackson and Omarr Baker.
Prince's sister Tyka claimed in legal documents on Tuesday that the music icon didn't have a will. She requested to open a probate case to investigate the matter.
Prince died at the age of 57 at his Paisley Park home in Chanhassen, MN, on Thursday, April 21. He was cremated, and his loved ones held a private ceremony at Paisley Park on April 23. (Prince's lawyer, L. Londell McMillan, told the AP this week that the star lived a healthy lifestyle and "wasn't drugged up" before his death.)
