Aca-ahhhhh! Rebel Wilson’s reaction to Nicki Minaj‘s jab at Miley Cyrus during the live broadcast of the 2015 MTV Music Video Awards was everything, as evidenced in new GIFs from the now-viral moment.
The Pitch Perfect franchise star, clad in a stripped-down police woman costume and aviator shades inside L.A.’s Microsoft Theater, took to the stage to present the Moonman to Minaj after the rapper’s win for Best Hip Hop Video for “Anaconda.” What started off as a calm presentation quickly spiraled into havoc, when Minaj called out Cyrus and threatened her before the star-studded audience.
“And now… back to this bitch that had a lot to say about me in the press,” Minaj sniped on Sunday, Aug. 30. “Miley, what’s good?”
A giddy Wilson — who (just like Us!) did not anticipate the shocking moment — was captured in the background initially smiling, then uttering “Ohhhhhh” as Minaj railed against Cyrus.
Like Wilson, Cyrus was equally shocked by Minaj’s comments onstage on Sunday, but handled the incredibly tense situation like a pro. “Hey, we are all in this industry and we all do interviews and say s–t,” Cyrus said from an opposite stage. “Nicki, congratuf–kinglations.”
An insider told Us Weekly on Monday that Minaj, 32, is legitimatey furious with Cyrus, 22, and decided to air her grievances onstage at the show following the VMAs host’s revealing New York Times interview.
“Nicki was livid with Miley and decided to air her feelings onstage,” the source told Us. “The anger was very real and not a pre-planned bit at all.”
While Minaj’s bad blood with Cyrus continues, the “Truffle Butter” rapper and Wilson shared a giggly bonding moment backstage afterward. Wilson tweeted a cute photo with Minaj on Sunday night as they exited together from the stage.
