Rihanna Calls Out “Bulls–t” Indiana Religious Freedom Law at Indianapolis Concert

Rihanna performs onstage during the Coke Zero Countdown at the NCAA March Madness Music Festival April 4, 2015

Talking that talk! Rihanna made her voice heard in Indianapolis, Ind. on Saturday, April 4.

The "FourFiveSeconds" singer, 27, arrived in Indiana as the state faced widespread heat for its controversial new Religious Freedom Restoration Act laws. Rih performed before the NCAA March Madness Final Four tournament, and took the chance to weigh in on the new measures.

As she debuted a new track called "American Oxygen," Rihanna paused her performance to address the crowd, touching on the restrictions imposed by the religious freedom laws.

"Who's feeling these new bulls–t laws that they're trying to pass over here?" she asked the Indianapolis audience at the city's White River State Park. "I say f–k that s–t. I wanna hear you say, 'F–k that s–t' cause we're just living our motherf–king lives. Indiana!"

The Grammy winner then launched into a timely performance of "Live Your Life," her 2008 collaboration with T.I.

Rihanna is hardly the only critic of the state's latest political action. While lawmakers maintain that the intention of the bill is to allow for more freedoms and protect citizens' religious rights, many see the change as a way for businesses and individuals to discriminate against those they disagree with, and specifically a risk to the LGBT community.

After widespread backlash, an edited form of the the RFRA was passed in Indiana with Governor Mike Pence's seal of approval on Thursday, April 2.

Other stars, such as Miley Cyrus, Seth MacFarlane, Ellen DeGeneres, and Mark Ruffalo, spoke out against the law and called on Pence and other lawmakers to make it right. While Rihanna still chose to travel to the state and keep her commitment to the NCAA, she made no mistake of making her opinion known.
