Cherishing every moment. Country singer Rory Feek is treasuring the time he has with his terminally ill wife, Joey Feek. The couple has been public about Joey’s battle with stage IV cancer, posting about the painful experience on their blog and Facebook pages.
On Wednesday, February 3, Rory shared a heartbreaking photo of his wife lying in her bed at home with their 23-month-old daughter, Indiana, sitting beside her.
“Feeling broken-hearted and blessed all at the same time this morning… watching my beautiful bride pour a lifetime of love into a few minutes a day,” the country singer captioned the shot.
In a recent blog post, Rory was candid about the complicated feelings he’s experiencing while watching his wife’s final days.
“I cannot even begin to imagine going home to Tennessee without Joey, or living my life and raising Indy without her… but chances are, that day is coming,” he wrote. “Joey and I both have questions. Lots of them. Hard questions that we don’t have any answers for. But still, we have faith – we choose to believe. I think that’s why they call it faith. If we knew all the answers, no faith would be required. And so Joey and I do our best each day to only see the plus’s in our life.”
Joey was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2014. In November 2015, she ended hospice care.
In January, Rory told Entertainment Tonight that he has “no desire to go on singing" without his wife.
"This is the last record that Joey and I will ever get to make and the last songs we'll ever get to sing together," Rory said of their seventh studio album, Hymns That Are Important to Us, which drops February 12.
