Isn't this the sweetest thing ever? Sarah Michelle Gellar honored her pal Shannen Doherty (three times!) in the viral "three fictional characters" social media challenge on Friday, September 23.
The Buffy the Vampire Slayer alum, 39, took to Instagram to post a collage of the three characters that best describe her — and she chose the Charmed star, 45, for each one!
"Hey @theshando I've taken describe yourself in #threecharacters one step further," Gellar wrote. "Here's me in three characters played by you lol #ShannenDoherty."
In the sweet post, the actress chose some of Doherty's most beloved roles: Jenny Wilder from Little House on the Prairie, Heather Duke from Heathers and Maggie Malene from Girls Just Want to Have Fun.
Doherty almost immediately responded with a throwback Instagram post of her own. "My #fbf is with @sarahmgellar cause she's always made me laugh like this. And … Just to date this picture, we were heading to a Ricky Martin concert … Which was fantastic btw," she captioned the black-and-white shot.
The longtime friends share a close bond. Last month, Gellar posted a heartfelt tribute to her pal, who is battling cancer and undergoing chemotherapy.
"My #mondaymuse (and really every day #muse) is my brave friend @theshando," the actress wrote on Instagram at the time. "I've always said she is one of the most loyal friends I've ever known, and now while she is facing the toughest journey of her life, she is sharing it with friends she has never met in the hopes of helping other people who are going through the same struggle. That's a true friend #F–kCancer."
