The forecast looks great! Sarah Palin took to Facebook on Thursday, June 9, to congratulate her daughter Bristol Palin on her surprise marriage to ex-fiancé Dakota Meyer and said that the couple’s future looks rather sunny.
“All our families’ hearts are filled with love for Dakota, Bristol, Tripp, and Sailor Grace,” Sarah, 52, wrote alongside a photo of the newlyweds who share 5-month-old daughter Sailor Grace. “It’s been a rewarding and interesting ride this past year — but these two sure do love an adventure!”
“As their biggest supporters, we’re stratospherically happy it’s happened, amidst running a little late!” the retired politician joked. “Like they said, the foundation of their new life together is built with hard work and God’s grace, so they can’t go wrong — their future is as bright as Alaska’s midnight sun.” (FYI: Alaska’s sky is light nearly all night long from late May to late July.)
Bristol, 25, and Meyer, 27, have had a rocky romance leading up to their unexpected nuptials, which Entertainment Tonight broke on Wednesday, June 8.
As Us Weekly previously reported, Bristol — who is also mom to Tripp, 7, whom she shares with ex-fiancé Levi Johnston — and Meyer called off their engagement in May 2015. That June, she announced she was pregnant and expecting her first child with Meyer. “I don’t want any lectures,” the abstinence advocate wrote on her blog at the time, defending her second unplanned pregnancy.
With their past behind them, the pair are now looking forward to a lifetime of wedded bliss.
“Life is full of ups and downs, but in the end, you’ll end up where you’re supposed to be,” Bristol and Meyer told ET in a statement on Wednesday. “We are so happy to share with loved ones the wonderful news that we got married!”
“Hard work and God’s grace are the foundation of our new life together, and with the love and support of our family we know we can get through anything,” they added.
After nearly a year apart, the two ignited reconciliation rumors when they started hanging out again back in April. On June 7, Meyer hinted that they secretly tied the knot in an emotional Facebook post.
“On one hand, we know that everything happens for a reason, and there are no mistakes or coincidences,” he captioned a photo of them in a tropical location, Bristol’s ring clearly visible. “On the other hand, we learn that we can never give up, knowing that with the right tools and energy, we can reverse any decree or karma. So, which is it? Let the Light decide, or never give up? The answer is: both.”
