Forget the Queen of Hearts — Scarlett Johansson is the Queen of Diamonds! Walking the red carpet at the SVA Theater on Thursday, Sept. 12, for the New York City premiere of her movie Don Jon, the actress, 28, showed off her fancy new engagement bling from fiance Romain Dauriac.
The blushing bride-to-be looked radiant in a mint-green and white frock by Roland Mouret, which she paired with pale-peach platform sandals. She kept her hair and makeup very low-key, letting the focus drift to the big, sparkly ring on her left hand.
Johansson first debuted the Art Deco-inspired accessory at the 2013 Venice International Film Festival premiere of Under the Skin on Sept. 3. One day later, her rep confirmed to Us Weekly that she had indeed accepted a proposal from Dauriac, a French journalist. “I can confirm that Scarlett and Romain are engaged,” the rep told Us in a statement. “They haven’t chosen a date for the wedding.”
It’s likely they haven’t had time. The actress has been on a nonstop press tour for work, first to promote Under the Skin, and now to promote Don Jon, the directorial debut of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who also wrote the script and stars as the title character. During an interview with ET Canada before Under the Skin‘s premiere at TIFF, Johansson was asked if it was the “best or worst timing for getting engaged.”
“My friend was like, ‘Congrats on timing,'” she replied. “Things work out the way they do. Maybe it’s better just to get it out the way.”
This will be the second marriage for the blonde bombshell. She was previously wed to actor Ryan Reynolds; they split in 2011 after three years. “Being married is a living, breathing process. I think I was not fully aware of the peaks and the valleys,” she said of why their relationship failed. “I wasn’t prepared to hunker down and do the work… Both of us were extremely busy. We spent so much time apart. It’s very difficult.”
(Reynolds, for his part, celebrated his one-year wedding anniversary with second wife Blake Lively on Sept. 9.)
After their divorce, Johansson dated actor Sean Penn and ad exec Nate Naylor. She and Dauriac have been together for around 10 months.
