Selena Gomez Is Also in Trouble for Her Taylor Swift Defense Over ‘Famous’ Feud With Kimye

She didn’t exactly kill ’em with kindness. Selena Gomez jumped to her bestie Taylor Swift’s defense after Kim Kardashian posted a series of Snapchat videos that documented the Grammy winner’s phone call with Kanye West about his track “Famous.”

“There are more important things to talk about. … Why can’t people use their voice for something that f–king matters?” Gomez, 23, wrote in the early hours of Monday, July 18, seemingly directing her tweet at the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 35, and rapper, 39.

“Truth is, last thing we need right now is hate, in any form. This industry is so disappointing yet the most influential smh,” continued the “Hands to Myself” singer.

While she had good intentions to stand up for her friend, social media users criticized her for not using her own voice to support social causes like gun control, Black Lives Matter and Latino issues. Some even pointed out that Kardashian recently dedicated a heartfelt post on her blog to Black Lives Matter, urging people to contact legislators to create change.

“Kim Kardashian even spoke about #BlackLivesMatter. Selena Gomez haven’t mentioned about the Latino lives that have been murdered by Police,” a tweeter wrote.

One tweeter mentioned Gomez’s late friend, Christina Grimmie, who was shot and killed by a deranged fan at an autograph signing in June. “As a Texas native and a friend of Christina Grimmie, why haven’t you expressed concerns about GUN CONTROL?” the Twitter user asked.

“You literally have no room to talk when you have a huge platform and all you do is post pictures and take fake sips of Coke @selenagomez,” another Twitter user wrote, bashing that Gomez has the most-liked photo on Instagram, which is an ad for Coca-Cola.

The “Kill Em With Kindness” songstress replied to the haters in a since-deleted tweet, writing, “So that means if I hashtag something I save lives? No, I could give two f—s about ‘sides.’ You don’t know what I do.”

Gomez is one of many celebs to weigh in on the Swift-Kimye feud, including Chloë Grace Moretz, Khloé Kardashian, Kourtney Kardashian, Demi Lovato and more. On Sunday, July 17, the Selfish author called out Swift for seemingly lying about whether she approved a lyric in “Famous” that says, “I feel like me and Taylor still might have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous.”

During the conversation, Swift calls it “a compliment” and said, “If people ask me about it, I think it would be great for me to be like, look, he called me and told me the line before it came out. Joke’s on you guys, we’re fine.” However, after the track was released, the pop star released a statement to GQ saying she hadn’t heard it before everyone else and was “humiliated.”

The “Bad Blood” singer, 26, replied on Instagram on Monday morning in a note that blasted Kimye for “character assassination” and explained that she was unaware of what the final lyric would be. “Where is the video of Kanye telling me he was going to call me ‘that bitch’ in his song? It doesn’t exist because it never happened. You don’t get to control someone’s emotional response to being called ‘that bitch’ in front of the entire world,” she wrote.
