New BFF alert! Selena Gomez was really, really excited to have the job of introducing Amy Schumer onto the stage at the 2015 Hollywood Film Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday, Nov. 1.
The former Disney star admitted she knew that Jennifer Lawrence would have been Schumer's No. 1 choice as stage costar at the star-studded awards ceremony, but then proceeded to try and push herself up the Trainwreck star's BFF list by gushing endlessly about actress, and the amazing impact she's had on her life.
"Basically what I'm saying is, I am really happy that Jennifer Lawrence wasn't able to do this tonight," Gomez told Schumer from the stage. "Because I love you!"
"You've inspired me to not take myself too seriously," she went on. "When I sit on my couch sort of endlessly depressed about certain things, you've constantly made me feel like I'm a badass. Though most of the time I am not. You say the things I wish I could say. And you never, ever make me feel bad for anything I do in my personal life. Even though you don't know me. So it's fine. Let me make it clear, I'm a huge fan!"
Evidently taken with her new fan, Schumer made it clear when she took to the stage to accept the Hollywood Comedy Award, that Gomez was anything but a backup plan.
"I didn't ask Jen, Selena, you're my first choice," said Schumer.
Let's just hope Jennifer Lawrence isn't feeling too let down!
