Real Housewives of Orange County Star Shannon Beador Reveals How She Survived Husband David’s “Devastating” Affair: Watch

On the Season 10 premiere of The Real Housewives of Orange County, Shannon Beador emotionally revealed that her husband of 14 years, David, cheated on her. In an exclusive sit-down interview with Us Weekly, conducted at their Newport Beach home, Shannon and her husband revealed to Us how they managed to not “toss their marriage in the trash.”

“After I found out about the infidelity, we had some bumps back and forth and we finally ended up at a place called Couples Retreat,” the Housewife, 51, told Us after she found hotel receipts of her husband’s. “They have a 90 percent success rate with repairing marriages and we went through the process and it was eye-opening for the both of us and we received some tools that would help us repair our marriage.”

Although Shannon tells Us in the new issue of Us Weekly, on newsstands now, that hearing David confess was “devastating,” the mom of three and her hubby are in a better place now.Shannon and David Beador

“Every Saturday night after church we go out to dinner just the two of us and it’s nice,” David, who left their home for two weeks after coming clean before returning to the family, told Us. “It’s nice to have the alone time. Shannon calls it our ‘reconnection time’…It’s really helped our relationship because previously we never did that.”

Before filming began for Season 10 — Shannon found out about the affair in April 2014 — the couple struggled with returning to the franchise, debating whether to air their issues on national TV.

“It was a difficult decision coming back to the show because it’s a reality show and we are both honest so we knew we had to address the infidelity as part of what was going on in our lives,” Shannon recalled before explaining they wanted to be open about David’s infidelity to help other couples. “What’s important to both of us, as corny as it might sound, is we want to give other couples hope that even if there is infidelity, or something devastating in a relationship, if you both work and make the effort and love each other, you can get out,” Shannon said. “You can get through it and get through in a better position than you started out in.”

And David “agreeing to talk about everything on the show,” Shannon tells Us, “is the ultimate commitment — as far as trust goes,” she concluded. “He is not only accountable to me, but everyone who watches.”

The Real Housewives of Orange County airs on Mondays at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
