Moms know best. Sharon Osbourne clarified the drama surrounding her daughter Kelly Osbourne and Fashion Police during The Talk on Wednesday, Feb. 25. The co-host explained Kelly took to Twitter to defend herself because fans thought she was complicit in Giuliana Rancic dissing Zendaya’s dreadlocks.
“I shouldn’t talk for Kelly, she’s a 30-year-old woman, but at the time that the show aired, people were saying that it was Kelly and Giuliana,” Ozzy Osbourne’s wife explained as to why her daughter threatened to quit the E! show on Twitter after Rancic’s seemingly racist comment. “So Kelly was getting a lot of hate tweets and it was badly reported on social media, so she just said, ‘Hey, not me, don’t pull me into this.’”
“Zendaya is a friend of Kelly’s and she never would condone that,” the Fashion Police co-host’s mom reaffirmed. “But we all make mistakes.”
Sharon, for her part, thinks it’s time to forgive Rancic, who publicly apologized on E! News Tuesday night after joking that Zendaya looked like she smelled like patchouli oil and weed because of her dreadlocks at the 2015 Oscars.
“I think her apology was very sincere and I think as she said, she’s learned a lot from what she’s said. I think we all make mistakes on TV…She fessed up. At the end of the day yesterday she owned it,” Sharon told her Talk costars.
Her co-host Aisha Tyler, however, had some more choice words for the E! host.
“Giuliana’s not a comedian — she was trying to be funny. I don’t want to be cruel, but stay in your lane,” she added.
