Telling it like it is! Shia LaBeouf isn’t shy about telling his side of the story about his arrest on Broadway during the hit show Cabaret back in June.
Talking on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Monday, Oct. 13, the Nymphomaniac actor gave his warts-and-all depiction of the night in question, when he was arrested and subsequently charged with criminal trespass and disorderly conduct for making a scene at the hit musical performance, starring Alan Cumming and Michelle Williams.
In a hilarious monologue, LaBeouf set the scene, starting with his state of inebriation, following a vacation in Ireland.
“So I land in New York coming back from Ireland, where I’m visiting my girl. In Ireland you drink whiskey, so I’d been drinking a lot of whiskey,” the actor regaled the audience.
“It’s the World Cup, so I’m sitting at a bar, and I’m drinking a lot of whiskey,” he continued before recounting a hilarious story about chatting to a homeless guy outside, who got freaked out when a fan took pictures, and ran off into Times Square. Trying to calm the homeless guy down, LaBeouf ran after him, eventually losing him and returning to pay his bar tab.
“I go back to the bar, pay my bill, and this dude comes up and says he’s a big fan,” the actor continued. “He says, ‘What you doing tonight?’ and I say, ‘I’m looking to turn it up a bit, trying to have a good time, what’s going on?’ He says, ‘Why don’t you come to my show, I’m a dancer in this Cabaret show.'”
LaBeouf continued his tale, (“Now the drunk is really starting to kick in,” he admitted) and talked about making his way into the theater, which was set up like a club, with seats around tables. After buying some older ladies whiskeys (which they wouldn’t drink, so he did!) and feeding another lady strawberries, Alan Cumming came on stage, smoking.
“He’s smoking a cigarette, so I think, ‘Oh, it’s that kind of party, I want to have a cigarette too,'” LaBeouf explained. Read more about Shia’s antics over the years.
