Reunited and it feels so good!
It's been two long years since Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul sat side-by-side on the American Idol judging panel, and now America's favorite reality TV odd couple have reunited for X Factor's first official preview. The two-and-a-half minute spot, which first premiered during Tuesday's MLB All-Star Game, also includes X Factor judges Nicole Scherzinger and Antonio "L.A." Reid.
"This is everything you would dream of doing if you were making a TV show," series creator Cowell tells Us Weekly of filming the in-depth promo, which features him offering positive critiques to singers only to later wake up from a "horrible nightmare." "There is nothing more I could want. In fact, today I was thinking, is there anything else I need? Then, literally, a helicopter was transported past me in a truck, and I think I said we've got it all. This is why you make TV shows. This is everything I've always dreamt of doing."
Abdul — who parted ways with Idol in 2009 after eight seasons — told Us in May she was "excited beyond words" to reunite with Cowell.
"I'm looking forward to being back with the FOX/FremantleMedia family and know that it will be an extraordinary journey — we're going to have a blast," Abdul told Us in a statement. "I'm also delighted and grateful to be sitting next to Simon again…but you might want to check back with me in a week or two!"
