Over the weekend, G.R.L. singer and X Factor finalist Simone Battle passed away at the age of 25. On Monday, Sept. 8, CNN reported that the performer’s death was ruled a suicide, according to the Los Angeles County coroner’s spokesman.
Battle hanged herself on Friday, Sept. 5, according to the coroner. She was last seen alive by her boyfriend at 3:45 a.m. on Friday in their West Hollywood apartment, and was found about four hours later in her closet.
An autopsy was conducted on Sunday, determining that Battle’s death was, in fact, a suicide.
G.R.L.’s official Twitter account tweeted about the singer’s tragic death on Sept. 6, writing, “Words cannot express the depth of our loss. Simone’s incredible talent was only surpassed by the size of her heart. We will carry her memory with us in everything we do.”
Rapper Pitbull, who collaborated with the group on the song “Wild Wild Love,” also tweeted, “My heart and prayers go out to @GRLSimone: @grl and her family. RIP Dios la bendiga.”
