Sofia Vergara and Nick Loeb announced the end of their two-year engagement last Saturday (in the midst of the Kimye wedding news, no less!), citing busy schedules and trouble finding time to spend together as the reason for their breakup.
Sources tell Us Weekly, however, that there is more to the story. Businessman Loeb, 38, tried to take advantage of Vergara’s fame in order to boost his own wealth and reputation, according to insiders.
“It really embarrassed Sofia,” a friend spilled to Us.
The businessman reportedly pushed the Modern Family star, 41, to promote his Onion Crunch company and even asked Vergara to get him a part in her new movie Don’t Mess With Texas, with costar Reese Witherspoon.
“He desperately wanted her to use her star power to launch his acting career,” the source told Us, explaining that Loeb went ahead and auditioned for a part anyway without her blessing. “He made her look like a fool.”
