Hours after TMZ posted a surveillance video of Beyonce‘s younger sister Solange Knowles attacking Jay Z in the elevator of a Met Gala after party, the Internet speculated over what the fight was about — via memes and tweets! 1. Beware, Solange
Instagram user @tiulm2 shared a hilarious reinterpreted promotional poster of M. Night Shyamalan‘s creepy 2010 horror movie, Devil. The thriller took place within an elevator and featured the deaths of its riders, one-by-one until the final survivor, “the devil,” was the last person standing. The original movie poster, which read “Devil,” was comically replaced with “Solange” late Monday, hours after the surveillance footage had been released.
2. He Woke Up Like This?
BBC Radio DJ Nick Bright tweeted this enhanced image of Jay Z, photoshopped with a bruise over his right eye. The caption read, “I woke up like this” — also a funny reference to Beyonce’s “Flawless” lyrics, which include that popular line.
3. What Jay Really Thinks
Twitter user @CloudSteppin_ posted a status of the hypothetical conversation between Solange and Jay Z in the elevator before the melee took place. “#WhatJayZSaidToSolange” the user wrote. “Solange: You think I’ll ever be as talented as my sister?” Without using words, the funny post included a simple picture of Jay Z, making an awkward face in response.
4. Jake Gyllenhaal Wants to Know, Too!
Twitter user @FeimM posted this funny split-screen photo of Jake Gyllenhaal hanging out courtside at a Nets game with the power couple. The top pic shows Gyllenhaal interacting with Beyonce while Jay Z is focused on the action. “…And then Solange was kicking him and screaming in the elevator,” it says. 5. Dive Out!
@SartoriallyInc, a senior editor at Complex Magazine, posted this hilarious photoshopped image of a shirtless Jay Z “diving” out of an elevator. “Hop out da elevator like,” he wrote beside the hilarious graphic.
6. Blame it on Joffrey
BuzzFeed staff member Rachel Zarrell posted a very simple interpretation of Jay Z and Solange’s interaction, and what ultimately resulted in her attack. “Joffrey dies,” she wrote, beside the hashtag “#WhatJayZSaidToSolange.” The death notice, of course, was a spoiler from the fourth season of HBO’s smash series Game of Thrones.
7. Solange, or Captain America?
User @POWTV posted a Captain America movie still to explain the aftermath of Solange’s sudden, inexplicable attack on Jay Z. “When Solange left the elevator tho,” the user wrote, alongside an image of Chris Evans‘ heroic character standing in the middle of a confined space filled with unconscious bodies of grown men.

Last but certainly not least! Hot97 posted this photo of Jay Z’s Watch the Throne collaborator Kanye West, devouring an ice cream in the passenger seat of a car. “Khloe know better,” the hilarious meme was captioned.
