Stefon and Jean-Ralphio voiced this year’s most popular droid! That’s right, comedians Bill Hader and Ben Schwartz served as official “BB-8 Vocal Consultants” on the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The SNL and Parks and Recreation alums, respectively, are both listed in the credits for the seventh Star Wars installment. Their work helped “voice” the beeping droid. Hader, 37, revealed to HitFix that the idea originally came from director J.J. Abrams.

When asked what being a vocal consultant entailed, Hader replied, “J.J. f–king around with this sound effects app on his iPad that was attached to a talk box operated by me. It looked ridiculous but it made BB-8’s voice. At first I tried doing a voice, but we all agreed it sounded too human.”

Schwartz, 34, also opened up on his Twitter account about the previously unknown casting, writing, “Quite possibly the hardest and coolest secret I’ve ever had to keep. BB8 voice over consultant #ForceAwakens.”

The rest of the star-studded cast includes veterans such as Harrison Ford and Carrie Fisher and newcomers such as Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong’o and Oscar Isaac.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters on Friday, December 18.
